In these troubled times, our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our members and those wonderful volunteers who keep Take Heart’s service for the Yorkshire Heart Centre operating. With this in mind, we have taken the steps below to protect them.
NEWSLETTERSTo protect our people, the decision has been made to put the newsletters online on this website until further notice. You can still read everything as usual, turn the pages and zoom in if the print is too small and if you don’t have a computer or a laptop, you can read it on your mobile phone. If you know any other members who may not see this, please let them know.On the last Saturday of each month, we have an Afternoon Tea session in the Take Heart Seminar Room on F Floor of Jubilee Wing, next to the Yorkshire Heart Centre wards. It is always a good ‘get together’ for patients, visitors, members and friends, with tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes provided free of charge. However, reluctantly, we have decided to cancel these events until further notice. The Annual Day Trip for members and volunteers - always a popular event to places such as Llandudno, with several coaches full. Again, reluctantly - this has been cancelled for this year.THE TAKE HEART OFFICEThis has been open every Wednesday in Brotherton Wing - but is now closed until further notice. However, Trevor and Alec will be working from their homes and messages can be left on the answering machine (0113 39 22 888) and these are collected a couple of times a day.ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGThe actual meeting is cancelled but will take place among our key “staff” by phone and the results will be published on the website and in the newsletter for any contributions by members.TRUSTEES COMMITTEE MEETINGSCancelledTHE ANNUAL QUIZTrustee Paul Kaufman will advise later whether the situation will have improved by then to allow this extremely popular event to go ahead. As soon as a decision on this - or anything else - has been made, I’ll let you know here.In the meantime, please keep safe.Bill StevensonWebsite Manager
