The Charity of the Yorkshire Heart Centre
We are very grateful to Intermarketing who have named us their ‘Charity of the Year’ and will undertake various find raising events for us. To give you a flavour of what they will be doing, already they have had a staff quiz and this one which is on Virgin Money Giving. Liam Grogan writes: In November 2018, our friend and colleague, Adam Blain, was sadly taken from us at the premature age of just 38. Adam lived with a heart condition from a very young age. But he did not let his condition define him or hold him back. Far from it. Instead, he made the most of life, living each day to the fullest. This year, and moving forward, we'd like to honour Adam's memory through our chosen charity of the year, Take Heart. Take Heart was founded in 1989 and since then has raised over four million pounds to fund both major projects and minor. They are committed to giving care and comfort to patients and their families at the Yorkshire Heart Centre at Leeds General Infirmary and St James Hospital and its Units within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. To support our charity of the year, 5 of us are undertaking the White Rose Classic cycle challenge. This involves a gruelling set of hill climbs in the Yorkshire Dales. (49 miles/79 kilometres, 4222ft/1287m ascent) Our aim is to get around the course in one piece and as a group. No-one will be left behind (Rob). If everyone just gives a couple of quid we can raise our target for this great charity and we can also watch grown men hobble around the office the following Monday. Thanks in advance team. Many thanks chaps – if you would like to donate to them, click here>>
