The 31st. Take Heart Annual Sponsored Walk took place once again in the lovely surroundings of Roundhay Park on 8th September 2019.The weather was unseasonally sunny but not too hot for walking and, although slightly down on last year, many dozens of people turned up to take part. The walk was started by Consultant Cardiologist Dominik Schlosshan, who was profuse in his praise for Take Heart. He said the work by the charity made a huge difference to the facilities available in the Yorkshire Heart Centre, helping its position as one one of the finest centres of its kind in the UK. He was proud to be associated with itThe stalls were mainly outside and did a good trade - particularly the tombola manned by Gina and Andy. The cake stall manned by Diane started outside but as there was a danger of some of the cakes melting, this was moved inside. Jenny manned the books, Kaz had the ‘Guess the number of Hearts in a jar’ stall and Pat and Ron were selling Pat’s unique cards inside. Many thanks to all - especially the lovely people who donated goodies for the stalls. We send our grateful thanks to City Press who donated the sponsored walk documentation and DC Plumbing and Building Maintenance for their extremely generous provisionof bottled water, soft drinks and sweets and chocolates for the walkers. Thank you too for the many kind folk who sponsored our walkers. The money collected will be put to very good use for patients in the Yorkshire Heart Centre in LGI.
