Dear Take Heart
I am organising a table quiz for Take Heart on Friday 19th October at the Farmers pub on
Bradford Road, near the Thornbury Roundabout.
I gave birth to my third son at the end of February
of this year at the age of 34. Twelve days later, I
was admitted to hospital with chest pain and the
following day after suffering a massive heart
attack, I had an emergency angiogram which
diagnosed Spontaneous Coronary Artery
Dissection SCAD, a very rare heart condition. I
underwent emergency coronary artery bypass
with 6 grafts. I had no prior heart problems and
have no family history of heart disease.
I spent most of the next 2 months in hospital, away
from my husband and 3 boys. This time in hospital
was hard for me and for my family. However it was
made easier and more comfortable thanks to Take
Heart. It's only when you have to stay on other
wards in the hospital, outside of the cardiac wards
that you fully appreciate the efforts of Take Heart.
My future is uncertain due to being diagnosed with congestive heart failure and I will
probably spend time in hospital in the coming years. I want to do my bit to support this
wonderful charity. They make a big difference for both patients and the families of these
patients. I just want to say thanks!!!!
Bronnach Pemberton
We can only say thank you so much Bronnach. We wish you and your family the very best
for the future.
not only but also.........
My sister Karen has just completed the Dubai 10k run. She did it in 59mins and 9
seconds. She has raised £365 for Take Heart and this photo of her with her Take Heart logo
on her shirt along with her medal with a backdrop of the Burj
Khalifa, the tallest building in the world and dubbed the eighth
wonder of the world.
When I fell ill last year, Karen dropped everything and
flew from Dubai to Leeds with her five month old baby Zahra to
be at my bedside after my bypass surgery. She left behind her
husband and two daughters Clare and Ciara. Her wonderful
friends in Dubai helped with school runs and looking after the
girls for the two weeks that Karen spent with me in Leeds.
I am so proud of what she has achieved with raising such
an amount of money in a short period of time. Bronnach
What can we say - Bronnach and Karen -
you are both magnificent people and
we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for
helping our work in the Yorkshire Heart Centre.
Many patients will also be grateful to you.
Our very best wishes,
Colin Pullan, MBE Chairman
