Hi everyone, thanks for visiting our page. If you
know us, you will no doubt know our dad, Alan
aka Senior, Big Al, The Silverback.
We had a tough Christmas 2013 when dad was
admitted to hospital after suffering an
unexpected heart attack. Doctors diagnosed
dad with chronic heart disease which they
believe had been present from a young age. It
had gone undetected for years due to his good
health and lifestyle up until his heavily diseased
arteries couldn’t function effectively any more.
Doctors advised that his arteries were so
diseased, if his heart had stopped beating from his cardiac arrests, they were
simply not strong enough to withstand a defibrillator revival and would have no
doubt died from an attempt.
Dad was rushed into priority surgery and went under the knife on 31st December
2013 with only a 1 in 20 chance of a successful operation. The amazing heart
surgery team at Leeds Coronary Unit performed a successful operation and Dad
awoke on the 1st January 2014.
Dad has gone from strength to strength with the
recovery and is doing amazing. We want to show our
appreciation for the amazing team at LGI by raising
funds for Take Heart, the charity of the Yorkshire Heart
Centre, helping those with heart problems and also
raising awareness of heart disease.
We hope to raise a minimum of £1000 for Take Heart
and would like you to kindly donate to this amazing
cause. We never had a thought or even a whisper
that heart disease would affect our family but
unfortunately it did. However, luckily, there are
amazing teams of people who are there for us all if it
does.
To raise the £1000 we are going to cycle the Coast
to Coast route within 24 hours!!! We will start from Whitehaven in Cumbria
and cycle the beautiful and grueling 131 miles across the Lake District and
Pennies, up some of the steepest and longest climbs in the UK and finish in
Sunderland, Teeside with 24 hours..... NON STOP!!!
We love our dad very much and we know you do too. So please give as
generously as you can to your hearts content for this amazing charity.
Love,
Darren and Daniel Bottomley
