TAKE HEART
Welcome
The Charity of the Yorkshire Heart Centre
TAKE HEART
Hi Everyone, I’m running the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k on Sunday 16th November 2014 and really want to use the opportunity to support a charity that is very important to my family and me. Just over two and a half years ago my father passed away suddenly from a heart attack and then a year later my mum underwent major heart surgery at the Leeds General Infirmary. Things didn’t go according to plan but after three months of wonderful care and support from the doctors and nurses, she was finally able to return home and have another chance at a normal life. Take Heart is a local charity that was set up more than twenty years ago by a group of former patients of the Yorkshire Heart Centre (at the LGI) who had undergone surgical procedures and who felt that they must repay the first class treatment they had received. In real terms this means things like. Providing accommodation for parents of children undergoing heart surgery so they can stay with them Providing vital medical equipment Providing free television and phone calls to all patients Creating a roof garden to help in the rehabilitation of patients So I’m running in memory of my Dad and to say thank you to the the Heart Unit in Leeds for what they have done for our family (and many many others) Any and all donations will be really gratefully accepted and WILL make a difference to this fantastic facility we ALL have access to in Leeds Many Thanks Mark Cummins
